Dvd Shrink? Hey i just downloaded a dvd to my hard drive, it is in multiple files, aka lots of vob and bup files, and i just wanted to convert them all into one seamless mpeg 1-4 file. (any one of those is fine?) i used dvd shrink to get all the files. Woden501 replied: "Well first of all I would suggest losing DVD shrink as there are better programs around. Second, technically this is illegal as in order to rip the files off the disk you have to go through the encryption which breaks some law, though I don't remember which it is. The way I would do what your proposing is to use DVD decrypter to rip the files off of the DVD onto the hard drive then use AGK to choose the VOB and sound files that are the correct ones and convert these into either divx or xvid formats. These programs offer a lot of choices for size and quality.

thankyou. esquilax replied: "DVD Shrink doesn't have burn capabilities built in but it's actually really easy with Nero Express.
(I have Express version 6)
-When dvd shrink is finished, you should have a folder with .vob, .ifo and .bup files in it.
-Put a blank dvd in your drive (a re-writable is good for practise if you haven't done this before). If any auto-run programs open, close them.
-Open Nero Express (not NeroVision - that's for making a dvd from scratch and yours is already ready to be burned to disc), at the top-right of the window under "Which recorder would you like to use?", select your dvd drive (if it's not already selected).
-Under "What would you like to burn?", click "DVD-Video Files"
-On the next screen, click Add in the top-right.
-Go to the folder where Shrink put all the .vob, .ifo and .bup files, select -all- of them and click Add, then Finished.
-Click Next. For Writing speed, you might want to lower the speed (too fast can cause screw-ups). I pretty much only use re-writables with max speed of 4x. Your computer is probably newer than mine and you could go faster if your discs support it :)
-Click Burn. (If it's a non-empty re-writable it'll ask you if it's ok to overwrite it)

Come on...Someone has to know SOMETHING about this. Even a little information or advice would be a tremendous help. Paul F replied: "Why not burn several DVD's at the various settings? That way you'll see the differences between the different settings." I keep getting a I/O device error when i am trying to encode using dvd shrink? I have a windows xp and I use dvd shrink to copy my protected films but after the analysing process I get a message I/O device error.
Please has anyone any suggestions. kowhai replied: "well I have seen this error many times, a friend of mine was having a real big problem with it. I have vista so it is different. However I found a work around. You will need to download a free program called DVD43 do a search for it. What it does is sit in the tray and waits for you to insert a DVD, it then fools the operating system into thinking it is not a protected disk. If you already have it make sure it is the very latest one. If you are upgrading you will have to uninstall the version you have and then you must reboot your system before installing the new copy.

Use it to copy your disk to your hard drive, then back it up with dvd shrink or whatever you like.
DVDshrink does not defeat the latest copy protection that is being used, that is probably why you are getting errors."
